Leach Theatre at Missouri University of Science & Technology presents a “Missouri Music and Musicians” concert presentation performed by a six-piece ensemble from the Sheldon Concert Hall in St. Louis.
The Sheldon Concert Hall created the “Missouri Music and Musicians” program at the request of the Missouri Arts Council, and it grew out of their “Show Me the Music” project during 2021 when Missouri celebrated its Bicentennial. Many Missouri musicians, both those born here and those who worked here, have made significant contributions to many genres of American music. Missouri can rightly be proud of its musical heritage and the creativity of Missouri musicians continues to the present day.
The concert features ragtime, blues, jazz, R&B, rock, and pop, including music by Chuck Berry, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Clark Terry, Scott Joplin, and Tina Turner - performed by Carolbeth True & Friends. Members of the Carolbeth True & Friends band are pianist and music director Carolbeth True, vocalist Kim Fuller, saxophonist Larry Johnson, trumpeter Dawn Weber, bassist Blake Mickens, and drummer Kevin Gianino.
This concert is made possible with support from the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency, and JPL Development.
