Grammy Award-winning violinist Joshua Bell will perform at Missouri University of Science and Technology on Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 7 p.m. in Leach Theatre, as part of the 33rd Remmers Special Artist/Lecturer Series. Accompanied by pianist Peter Dugan, Bell is renowned as one of the most celebrated violinists of his generation, with a career spanning nearly four decades. He has performed with major orchestras worldwide, held engagements as a soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, and conductor, and is the music director of the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields in London. Bell has received numerous accolades, including multiple Grammy nominations, the Avery Fisher Prize, and the “Instrumentalist of the Year” award from Musical America. Pianist Peter Dugan has appeared as a soloist, recitalist and chamber musician around the world, and can be heard nationwide as host of NPR’s From the Top.
DSQ is referred to as “Bach meets Bon Jovi” and is compared to artists like Lindsey Stirling, Vitamin String Quartet, Brooklyn Duo and 2Cellos. They use both traditional and electric strings performing as a quartet with the full accompaniment of drums and guitar and are known for their eclectic renditions of everything from Guns N’ Roses “Sweet Child O’ Mine” to Taylor Swift’s “Anti-Hero” to their collaboration, “You Are The Reason,” with The Piano Guys.
