School Outreach Policies and Procedures

School Outreach daytime performances in Leach Theatre are reserved for public, private, and home schools and are not open to the general public.  It is recommended that reservations be made in advance, as these performances fill quickly.

Public/Private Schools:   Reservation requests are processed in the order in which they are received; incomplete forms will not be processed. Reservation numbers may be adjusted down (no more than 10% of your total reservations may be cancelled) up to five business days prior to the performance.  At five business days before the performance date, the reservation number is considered firm and must be paid in full.  Refunds will not be issued due to lack of transportation, student absences, unused seats, or school closings (see Inclement Weather section below); all reserved seats must be paid for. Reservation numbers can be added to your request if seats are still available.
Public and private schools have the option of either receiving an invoice following the performance, which must be paid within 30 days of receipt, or paying by cash or check on or before the date of the performance.  Checks can be made payable to Missouri S&T.  If you wish to use a school purchase order, remember to send a copy of the P.O. in advance of the performance date.  If you wish to pay in cash on the day of the performance, please have all money pre-counted and converted into currency (no coins, please).
Groups are allowed one free adult teacher/chaperone admission for every 10 student admissions purchased.  Remember that everyone including teachers, chaperones, and bus drivers must be included in your reservation if they plan to watch the performance. If your entire group wishes to be seated together, please arrive at the same time. Seating is assigned as groups enter the theatre and seats cannot be saved for groups arriving later.

Reservation confirmation will be sent to the contact person listed on the booking form.  If you do not receive reservation confirmation within 5 business days of sending in your form, please contact our office.  If a study guide is provided for the performance, the information will be included in the e-mail. Approximately one week before the performance date, tickets will be mailed to the contact person listed on your booking form. Every student and teacher/chaperone will be required to have a ticket for admittance to the theatre.  Seating begins approximately 30 minutes prior to show time. Every effort will be made to start performances on time; latecomers will be seated at the discretion of venue and production management.

Home Schools:
Payment must be received at time of reservation in order to confirm your seats.  All tickets will be held at the box office for pick-up. Payment can be made by credit/debit card, cash, or check.  Checks can be made payable to Missouri S&T.  Call 573-341-6964 if you wish to reserve your home school tickets by phone with credit card payment.  Home schools may order as many student tickets as needed.  Up to one adult per child may purchase a ticket in advance for the performance (cost $5).  Any additional home school parents or chaperones wanting to attend may purchase a ticket at the box office on the day of the show, subject to availability.

Accessible Seating:
If anyone in your group requires wheelchair accessible seating or other special accommodations, please be sure to indicate that on your booking form or make arrangements ahead of time by calling 573-341-6964 or emailing

Parent Seating:
Parents sometimes wish to attend School Outreach performances and sit with their child’s class.  If the parent is not already included in the school’s group reservation, then they may purchase a ticket from the box office on the day of the show if seats are still available.  Parents may call the box office (573-341-4219) to inquire as to the availability of tickets for a specific performance.

Infant Seating:
All strollers must be left outside the door to the theatre or stored in the coat room. If you wish to bring in an infant seat or car carrier to place in a theatre seat, the cost for a regular ticket will be charged for the seat.  Infant seats and carriers cannot be placed on the floors or aisles.  Infant seats and car carriers that do not have a paid ticket must be stored outside the theatre or in the coat room.  Infants and small children two years of age or younger (with no infant seat or carrier) may attend the performance for free if seated on a parent’s lap.  Please request a free Lap Pass from the box office.

Show Cancellation
:  Leach Theatre books all performance dates and times with the full intent of each performance being presented; however, there are circumstances in which the performing artist(s) may cancel a performance.  Although this is a rare occurrence, if a cancellation does occur you will be offered tickets for another other date of the same performance (if available), or the option to receive a refund of your ticket purchase.  Any other adjustments will be made on a case-by-case basis.  Every effort will be made to give as much advance notice as possible when there is a change or cancellation to a performance date.  Performance cancellation notifications will be made at least 3 weeks in advance of the performance date.

Inclement Weather
:  If Leach Theatre must cancel an event due to a weather emergency, you will have the option of attending the show on another date (if rescheduled), accepting a credit for a different School Outreach performance, or requesting a refund.  If your school is officially closed due to a weather emergency but the performance still takes place, you will still be responsible for payment or you may be offered an opportunity to transfer your reservation to a different School Outreach event, if available.

Performances take place at Leach Theatre, Castleman Hall, 400 W. 10th Street, Rolla, MO (on the campus of the Missouri University of Science and Technology).  School Outreach performances are approximately one hour long unless otherwise indicated.  Driving directions are available at
