4D Theatre with Mark Nizer

Thursday, September 22, 2016 - 10 am & 1 pm

Grades 2-8

Making the impossible possible and the improbable probable, Mark Nizer has taken his one-man show to thousands of venues around the world. Join us for his School Outreach Program in which Mark will introduce students to the art of juggling and all that is possible. Mark stresses the principles of living your dreams, believing in yourself, keeping an open mind, and never giving up. His Juggling Across the Curriculum program focuses on critical thinking skills which will teach your students how to use the Baloney Detection Kit* to teach critical thinking and how science helps us see what is real and what is not.

Some topics to be covered include:

  • Wherever possible there must be independent confirmation of the facts.
  • Try not to get overly attached to a hypothesis just because it's yours.
  • Quantify, wherever possible.
  • If there is a chain of argument, every link in the chain must work.
  • "Occam's Razor" - if there are two hypotheses that explain the data equally well, choose the simpler.

An entertaining and informative way to encourage your students' interest in scientific discovery and critical thinking.
