Arianna String Quartet: Autumn Kammerraku!
Debussy: Quartet in G minor, Op.10
Fujinaga Kengyo: Yachiyo Jishi
Schlefer: Dream Corner
Hailed for their outstanding musicianship, the Arianna String Quartet has firmly established itself as one of America’s finest chamber ensembles. Their performances have been praised for “tonal warmth, fastidious balance…expressive vitality” (Chicago Tribune) and “emotional commitment and fluent virtuosity” (Pretoria News, South Africa).
Founded in 1992, the quartet has garnered national attention by winning the Grand Prize in the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition and first prize in both the Coleman and Carmel Chamber Music Competitions, and as Laureates in the Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition. The Arianna String Quartet is the quartet in residence at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, where all four members are full-time professors of their respective instruments.
The Arianna Quartet joins forces with shakuhachi grand master James Nyoraku Schlefer, world-renowned koto virtuoso Yumi Kurosawa, and acclaimed master shamisen player Yuko Reikano Kumura, as the Kyo-Shin-An ensemble returns for another memorable evening of music making with the ASQ. This unique concert fuses the ancient traditions of Japanese instrumentation with Western classical music’s string quartet, producing an experience that forges new frontiers in music, and provides audiences with a once in a lifetime concert experience.
